The Researcher will work in the first period of 18 months on the activities of the PON ARS01_00806 SIADD project, for the monitoring of metal additive manufacturing technologies on powder bed fusion and for powder direct deposition.
The research will include:
• Implementation of innovative solutions for in-situ monitoring of Selective Laser Melting (SLM) and Direct Metal Laser Deposition (DLMD) processes of metals.
• Development of Architectured Materials (AMat) design methodologies for the production of lightened metal components.
• Development of design methodologies for the production of lightened metal components, configured to have characteristics not obtainable with a single material, seeking solutions that respect the aspects of manufacturing sustainability.
In the remaining 18 months, research activities will focus on the development of technologies related to sustainable materials and processes, integrated into production systems for the agri-food sector. In particular, new materials will be studied for a sustainable industry capable of reducing carbon emissions, promoting energy savings and promoting recycling processes.
Applications of these materials will be developed with new Additive Manufacturing technologies, in order to optimize the process parameters for application in companies operating in the agri-food sector. The target is to optimize the processes to make them sustainable, user-friendly and low cost.
Lastly, through the use of Reverse Engineering technologies and industrial metrology, the performance of the process will be assessed in terms of dimensional accuracy and surface finish in order to optimize the technological parameters assessed in the first instance.
